Waterboxer, chronicles my attempts to restore and keep our 1985 VW Camper van on the road. I try to share what I learn through those efforts to help other people with their vanagons and maybe save them a little time while inspiring people. I have always enjoyed the self-reliance of building and fixing. I have problems asking people for help. Those issues are complicated and deep seated from childhood and they have really negatively affected my entire life. on the good side, I have developed quite a range of skills. I am not an expert in any of them and I am sure I have done many things wrong, but when I look around, I have made and fixed a lot more things than some people. I built this roof over our patio when the fabric one we got from Home Depot lifted off in a hurricane like Dorothy's house. The angles in the rafters came out of a program I found on the internet that calculated angles and bevels. Rather than a pyramid, I should have extended the sides of the roof all the way back to the house end. As you can see, the rain that falls on the triangle pitched towards the back of the house needs a gutter to keep from having a waterfall affect going from the back porch door to the patio.
